Comparison of Old film trailers to New film trailers

Swiss Family Robinson - 1960

Swiss Family Robinsons is a classic film by Walt Disney, which was released in 1960. The trailer for the film is just as classic, giving a steriotypical view of the style of trailers at the time. Notice the length of the trailer, and the fact that it follows the exact story line of the film, essentially the trailer is like a compressed version of the film, which leaves the question, now that you've practically seen the film, is there any point in watching it? Also notice the narative voice, and his choice of words, note how he uses the word excitement alot, and tends to set the scene for each clip. Finally the exccessive use for text throughout the trailer, elaborate fonts and bold transitions, a very uncommon feature to a more recent trailer.

This is the new Amazing Spiderman film, which is due for release July 3rd 2012, as you can see straight away the length of the film has been minimised and compressed to 2 and a half minutes, half of what the Swiss Family Robinson trailer showed. The quality of the trailer is obviously more advanced and technical due to the uprise in recent technology. Notice their is alot less text and no narration throughout the trailer, as apposed to the Swiss Family one which was mainly focused around that agenda.
